Belgium and Turkey join Drone Coalition: member states pledge €2.75 billion

Belgium and Turkey have expressed their intention to join the international Drone Coalition for Ukraine, led by Latvia and the United Kingdom, bringing the total number of members of this coalition to 20.

This was reported by the press service of the Latvian Ministry of Defense following the results of the UAV summit, which took place on May 28, Censor.NET reports.

It is noted that the coalition member countries have pledged to allocate at least 2.75 billion euros by the end of 2025 for the purchase of drones and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine .

“The International Drone Coalition is becoming stronger – we will be able to supply more drones to Ukraine, while simultaneously strengthening the defense industry of Latvia, the EU and NATO countries. Our strength is in unity, so joining the coalition of new allies will allow us to provide Ukraine with much-needed support in the fight against the aggressor,” said Andris Spruds, the head of the Latvian Ministry of Defense.

He noted that as of the end of May, member states had contributed about 180 million euros to the common fund. The funds will be used for centralized procurement of drones, as well as for support measures for Ukraine at the national level.

  1. Ukraine does not need more drones. Ukraine needs Taurus, more tanks and war planes as well as mine-sweepers. If possible even tactical nuclear waepons.
