The Ministry of Finance of Belarus has proposed to introduce a fee for leaving the country by car. This was reported by the Belta news agency with reference to Finance Minister Yuri Seliverstov.
It is planned that the collection can be introduced by the regional authorities. Those who leave the country in vehicles with a maximum weight of less than five tons will pay.
The fee will not exceed three base rates. The size of one base unit in 2021 will be 29 Belarusian rubles (848 Russian rubles).
Tut.by draws attention to the fact that it will be possible to leave Belarus for Russia without paying a fee.
If this approach is approved, the funds raised, taking into account the pandemic, can be directed to disinfection measures, providing the necessary checkpoints.BELT
The tax for leaving Belarus by car is provided for by the draft law on changing the Tax Code. On December 18 he was received by the House of Representatives – the lower house of the Belarusian parliament. Now the document has been sent for signature to Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
Since December 20, citizens of Belarus and foreigners with a residence permit in this country have been banned from leaving the country through land borders (except for the border with Russia). The official cause was the coronavirus pandemic. Entry to Belarus through land borders has been restricted since October 30.
