Belarus threatens to break off diplomatic relations with EU

The country has also put into effect a relevant sanctions list

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus doubts the expediency of maintaining diplomatic relations with the European Union if sanctions against the Belarusian authorities are maintained. The relevant statement was posted by the ministry’s press service.

Further promotion of the EU’s ‘sanctions flywheel’ could lead to even more serious consequences, such as Belarus’ withdrawal from joint programs and projects, revision of the level and modality of the diplomatic presence until the decision on the expediency of maintaining diplomatic relations is made,” the statement said.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry also stated that the Belarusian side would put into effect a relevant sanctions list in connection with the visa sanctions adopted by the EU against a number of Belarusian officials.

According to the established civilized diplomatic practice, we will not publish it,” the agency added.

As we reported earlier, the sanctions against Belarus concern those involved in the falsification of the presidential election results and the brutal suppression of peaceful demonstrations after the August 9 elections.

Not sure what Luka is smoking, but it’s given him delusions of grandueur. At least Macron got his answer about dialogue with Putin’s puppet. What’s the next excuse for not sanctioning him?

Sounds like mafia land. And, just like mafia land again, there isn’t much that Belarus could sanction the EU with.
