It is claimed that the 9M318 has an active homing head.

On Tuesday, December 10, Belarus conducted a test of a new anti-aircraft guided missile for the Buk-MB2 complex near the border with Ukraine .

According to the monitoring OSINT project Belarussian Gayun , the tests took place on the territory of the former 41st aviation range (Merlinsky), where a flight restriction zone had previously been introduced. It was because of the missile launches that an air alert was declared in Ukraine during the day:

“Let us recall that the restricted zone is in effect until December 20, which means that it is possible that missile launches in this territory will continue in the coming days.”

The State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus reported that the 9M318 missile is used to engage high-speed maneuvering aerodynamic targets, tactical ballistic, cruise, aircraft and anti-ship missiles and helicopters in conditions of intense electronic countermeasures, as well as surface and radio-contrast ground targets.

It has an active homing head, which allows it to hit targets with a higher probability, as well as release the SAM target channel without waiting for the target to be hit.
