The Belarusian authorities decided to impose sanctions against the European Union in response to the imposition of restrictive measures by Brussels.

The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus says that the official Minsk opposes the confrontation, but will decisively respond to “unfriendly actions.”

“ In connection with the visa sanctions adopted by the EU against a number of Belarusian officials, the Belarusian side is introducing a retaliatory list of sanctions from today. The unified list of persons banned from entering also operates within the framework of integration associations, which include Belarus, ”the ministry said.

At the same time, Belarus will not publish its sanctions list ” in accordance with the established civilized diplomatic practice.”

Earlier it was reported that the European Union had agreed on sanctions against Belarus due to the falsification of the presidential elections and the massive dispersal of protests.

40 people were included in the sanctions list, Alexander Lukashenko was not on it.

Anti-government protests in Belarus erupted after the August 9 presidential elections. The Belarusians consider the election results to be falsified and demand new, fair and transparent elections.
