Due to power outages, landline phones have been installed in cities on the peninsula to contact emergency services.

Payphones have begun to be installed in occupied Crimea , with 24 communication points appearing in 5 cities, reports Public Crimea .

The publication specified that payphones are available in cities such as Dzhankoy, Yevpatoria, Kerch, Armyansk, and Yany Kapu (Krasnoperekopsk). 

It is explained that they were installed so that people could call the police, an ambulance, the gas service, or rescuers when there is no mobile communication and electricity.

“Due to power outages, landline phones have been installed in the cities of the peninsula to communicate with emergency services. Important: 24 devices operate during a complete power outage and the absence of a mobile network. You can contact them by calling the fire department – 101, the police – 102, the ambulance – 103, the emergency gas service – 104, and the single rescue service number – 112,” the occupation communications operator “Miranda” said in a message.

According to the data, 5 payphones were placed in Dzhankoy and Yana Kapu, 6 in Armyansk and Yevpatoria, and 2 in Kerch.

“The occupation authorities explain this by the need to ensure the ability to call emergency services. The first payphones have already appeared in Dzhankoy and Yevpatoria. Five devices have been installed in Dzhankoy, and another one on Theater Square in Yevpatoria. This is yet another indication of the deterioration of the civilian infrastructure on the occupied peninsula,” said activists of the “Yellow Ribbon” resistance movement in Crimea.
