Austin: We need to find new solutions to strengthen the air defense of Ukraine

Currently, the war is at a critical moment, because the survival of Ukraine is at stake.

International partners and allies need to find new solutions to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense .

According to the correspondent of UNIAN, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin said this at the beginning of the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (“Ramstein-23”), which is taking place in Brussels at the NATO headquarters.

“We must continue to look for new solutions, especially for Ukraine’s air defense challenges. And we will continue to support Ukraine’s long-term security,” Austin said.

According to him, the Contact Group supports Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen and modernize its forces for the long term.

The US Secretary of Defense added that this coalition continues to seek innovative and sustainable ways to accelerate the delivery of critical capabilities for Ukraine’s most pressing needs.

In particular, he is grateful to Sweden for announcing the largest package of military aid in the amount of about 1.23 billion dollars. This package will include two Saab 340 aircraft equipped with the ASC 890 radar reconnaissance and control station, which will be crucial for long-range surveillance.

Austin is also grateful to Belgium, which has pledged to deliver 30 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by 2028, as well as to provide $1 billion in military aid this year.

He also thanks Spain for the recent commitment to provide Ukraine with more air defense missiles.

In addition, he said that the US is closely cooperating with the Contact Group to strengthen Ukraine’s defense industry and develop joint projects.

Austin said that support for Ukraine is growing. Argentina became a new member of the Rammstein format.

“This is a critical moment. The stakes in this war are high. Ukraine’s survival is at stake. So is all of our security. None of us wants to live in a world where Putin wins. We will all be less protected if tyrants think they can to trample boundaries,” Austin said.

    • “We must continue to look for new solutions, especially for Ukraine’s air defense challenges.”

Yeah, ask your boss, the USA has sent exactfuckingly ZERO Patriots and F-16s to back up their signature 30 years ago in Budapest……
      I think I’m going to be sick….

  1. True, there still need to weapons to hit more Russian planes that drop glide bombs and missiles. But against ground based launchers, ATACMS work very well:

Please note, this strike wasn’t so much about cutting down Russian air defence than about eliminating the launchers of S-300 for ground attacks. A very necessary relief for the people in Kharkiv!
    🇺🇦🙂👍

    • Oh, hey, Foccusser, don’t jump ahead to conclusions! Now that secretary Austin has understood the problem, you can expect a quick decision on a proposal for consideration of a solution from him early next year! 😖

  2. Now, this:
“Poland opposes transfer of Patriot system deployed on its territory to Ukraine”

Of course, Poland, together with the Baltic States and maybe Finland, is at higher risk of a Russian airstrike than other Nato countries, but this still is rather selfish. There can’t be any doubt that Ukraine has the much more urgent need! 😠
