The diplomat said that the Russians demanded that four Ukrainian regions be given to them.

During the negotiations in Istanbul, the Russian delegation directly stated to the Ukrainian side that an unconditional ceasefire was unacceptable to them. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Serhiy Kyslytsia, during a telethon.
He shared that the Russian delegation’s directives did not foresee the possibility of a ceasefire agreement. Instead, the Russians demanded that they be given four Ukrainian regions so that “tomorrow they would not demand six or eight regions.”
“The amount of trash, threats, cynicism, and immoral statements… It was almost a continuous stream,” Kyslytsia said.
The diplomat also recalled that during the negotiations, the Russian side threatened that some members of the Ukrainian delegation could lose their relatives if they did not agree to Moscow’s conditions.
