Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali announced that he is ready to cooperate with any leadership.

The Syrian army command has informed officers about the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, Reuters  reports,  citing an unnamed Syrian officer.

They say Assad has left Damascus and headed in an unknown direction. The rebels claim they entered the capital without resistance from the army.

According to Flightradar, a Syrian Air Force plane took off from Damascus airport around the same time rebels reportedly took control of the city. It initially flew toward Syria’s coastal region, but then turned sharply and flew in the opposite direction for several minutes before disappearing from the map. It is not known who may have been on board.

Meanwhile, Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali announced that he was ready to support the continuity of rule and would cooperate with any leadership chosen by the Syrian people.

The situation in Syria

Recently, the leader of the Syrian rebels  revealed the goal of their revolution . He said that they want to overthrow the regime of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad and “build a new Syria.”

As the NYT wrote,  the sharp change in the situation in Syria , where in 10 days the Bashar Assad regime went from total dominance to collapse in less than five minutes, is a manifestation of the radical changes that have occurred in the Middle East over the past year.

Russia, which has made a very significant “investment” in keeping Bashar Assad in power,  is hardly intervening in the crisis this time .
