Well, i would like the Lord to be a shepherd, protecting the innocent and the defenseless, instead of just being the punisher after all sin and evil already were committed.
As the Psalmist said the Lord is my Shepherd. God is Holy and Just. If a judge was like you did this stuff but I’m just going to look the other way, they would be a pretty crappy judge. But say someone had a lot of fines and the fines were paid the judge can legally let them go. This is what Jesus did when He gave His life on the cross for our sins. He paid the dues to make us free. One of the last things He said on the cross was “it is finished”. Freedom is never free, it is purchased by blood. He gave His life and blood for our freedom that right fellowship could be restored with a Holy God.
