As a result of the occupiers’ attack on Odesa, more than a hundred graves were damaged: it is unclear who will restore them

114 graves at the Tairov cemetery were damaged by a rocket attack on the evening of October 31. 19 of them were completely destroyed.

As Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov reported, the damage was recorded in plots #146, 147, 157 and 158, where burials took place mainly from 1977 to 2010.

The mayor’s office does not yet know what to do with this, since, according to the law, there is no mechanism for actions in such situations.

“Unlike the liquidation of the consequences of the shelling of residential buildings, there is no procedure, and today there is no understanding whether it will be legal to allocate funds from the budget for the restoration of graves, and whether there will be no criminal liability for this. When the graves were damaged during the previous shelling (April 23, 2022, —  Ed. ), relatives of the deceased restored them,” the press service of the mayor’s office said.

An examination of the damaged areas is currently underway.
