Oleksiy Arestovych , an adviser to the head of the President’s Office and the speaker of the Ukrainian delegation to the Donbass TCG, is proposing to rename Ukraine, giving it a double name.
He told this in an interview with journalist Roman Tsymbalyuk, published on Youtube .
“What would I do? I would change the name of the state. Russia-Ukraine would call us, a double name,” he said.
Asked when the presidential decree would be issued, Arestovich said: “We are working on it.”
“Our task is to become Russia-Ukraine. And note that this name was mentioned five times in the last three weeks in Kyiv in the president’s speech, officially. If we do that, we can’t worry too much about the rest,” he said.
Arestovich also speaks of the need to take away the “Russian” brand from the Russians.
Earlier it was reported that Arestovich proposes to legally distinguish between the concepts of “Russian” and “Russia” . I believe that we should distinguish at the legislative level the concepts of “Russian” and “Russia”, to say that “Russian culture”, “Russian language” is codified in Ukraine. Rename it to Slavia, but nothing containing the word ‘russia’. BTW, the name Ukraine is older than the name Russia, so i suggest Russia renames itself and shifts to the chinese alphabet!
Around year 1000 Arabs called Ukraine RUS and Black Sea RUS sea, so a better name would be Ukraine-RUS as succesor of Kyvian Rus, first East Slavic state. which reached its peak in the early to mid-11th century., at a time neither Moscow (1147) or Muscovy (1277) were known.
In 1721 Peter of Muscovy changed name to Russia, and stole thus name and history (Kyvian)-Ukraine-RUS. But to really correct it “russia” should be called from this time Muscovy agan, depsite Peter’s renaming and Catherine at end renamed Muscovites to russians and forbade them to use name Muscovites.
At moment although name russia is commonly used the real name now is Russian Federation , although in realiity it isn’t a real federation of 85 parts, Muscovy is the leech of the other 84 parts.
But yes, Ukrainians are the real RUSsians, not the Muscovites, which speak a younger “dialect” they call russian.
