Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov says he does not believe in the possibility of an attack by Russian troops on Kiev and advises not to consider such apocalyptic scenarios.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Reznikov said this during the broadcast of the Freedom of Speech program on the ICTV channel.

In particular, the minister was asked what would be the state of affairs if an attack by Russian troops on Kiev was organized.

“Firstly, frankly speaking, I don’t believe in this scenario, because an attack on Kiev is possible only from the north, that is, from the territory of the Republic of Belarus. I ask you not to forget that we have a thousand kilometers of border with the Republic of Belarus, from which 750 km are swamps, thickets and very difficult terrain, so it’s not easy to cross this border in every place. Only 250 km and they are not above Kiev, but closer to the Polish border,” Reznikov stressed.

“That is, from the point of view of geography, it is a very difficult story – to attack Kiev from the north. Secondly, we still have to reach Kiev. It is almost 200 km. One of the defense systems is built in such a way that we are ready to fight back and reach Kiev it’s just that no one will get through. I’m not talking about the ability of 4 million people in Kiev to defend themselves,” Reznikov stressed.

He considers it a huge mistake to think that Kiev “will be captured or fall in a couple of days.” “I suggest not even considering such an apocalyptic scenario – this is nonsense. Sorry, those who say this, even if they are our respected strategic partners,” Reznikov stressed.

Recall that Reznikov also  emphasizes that martial law will not be introduced to Ukraine yet. The minister hopes that there will be no Russian invasion, and that Ukraine will come out of the crisis associated with the accumulation of Russian troops near the border stronger.

  1. Invasion or not, the important point is not to panic. Fear is what putin wants, not just from the West, and my idiotic American president, but also to keep Ukrainians in fear. Give him nothing but pain and russian death.

  2. I fully agree; Kyiv will not and cannot fall in a mere few days if the defenders aren’t chickens, which they aren’t. The city is very large and there are millions of places for fighters to stand their ground. There are uncountable windows and basements and bridges and parks and buildings and so on and so forth. It would take weeks and the entire force of 100,000 + Ruskie troops stationed around Ukraine to take it. Street fighting has always been a very bloody business. We remember one of the bloodiest in history; Stalingrad.
