The Investigative Committee of Russia reported the detention of Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Innovative Development of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Vladimir Shesterov. He is accused of embezzling budget funds allocated for the operation of the Patriot Park and the convention and exhibition center.

The case was opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Fraud). The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the general is currently being decided.

Vyacheslav Akhmedov, Director of the Patriot Park, was detained along with him and sent to a pretrial detention center.

In July, investigative actions were carried out in Patriot in connection with embezzlement during public procurement. The park was built under former Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu under the leadership of his deputy Timur Ivanov, who was arrested in April in connection with a billion-dollar bribe case.

Shesterov became the fifth general from the team of former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to be detained. Among those previously detained were former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, Chief of the Main Personnel Directorate of the Defense Ministry Yuri Kuznetsov, Chief of the Main Communications Directorate of the Defense Ministry Vadim Shamarin, and former commander of the 58th Army Ivan Popov. Ivanov, Kuznetsov, and Shamarin were accused of accepting bribes, and Popov was accused of fraud.

  1. “This is already the fifth.”

It probably won’t be the last.
If those potato generals weren’t such cowards and a bit more intelligent, they might’ve taken over power in the cesspool once they realized their time is up. But, being potato generals, they have neither courage nor brains and just let fate take them away, one by one.
