An unbreakable wall in the war

Zelenskyy was supposed to disappear within a few days — through assassination or flight.

Russian agents rented apartments near Bankova Street with orders to eliminate him. And he posted a selfie: “We are here.”

Removing him was a central element of moscow’s plan. Kill him or capture him — and let panic do the rest.

When the United States offered evacuation, Zelenskyy delivered his legendary line: “I need ammunition, not a ride.”

Zelenskyy survived around a dozen assassination attempts, but the greater threat became political problems.

A corruption scandal brought down close allies, sparked rare wartime protests, and forced the public to dramatically reconsider its stance on anti-corruption reforms.

Zelenskyy’s power is based less on ideology and more on communication.

Daily selfie videos. Direct addresses. After he chose to remain in Kyiv, his approval rating jumped from 37% to 90%.

He is Ukraine’s most unexpected wartime leader.

A comedian who played the president on television in “Servant of the People” — and then won 73% of the vote in real life. Show business taught him how to operate within oligarchic systems and dominate on camera.

But the war changed his image. From a clean-shaven entertainer to a weary wartime figure.

Briefings at 3-4 a.m. Not a single full night’s sleep for years. Olena Zelenska: “There has not been a single moment of complete happiness.”

Strategically, 2022 was a year of survival. Kyiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv held. Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia stood firm. Kharkiv and Kherson were liberated.

The years 2023–2025 were difficult. The counteroffensive stalled. Zaluzhnyi was dismissed in 2024. The incursion into Kursk boosted morale — but only briefly. russia resumed its slow war of attrition along a 1,200 km front line.

Zelenskyy’s political instinct is confrontation.

He pushed Germany to supply weapons by appealing directly to the public. Adviser Lytvyn: “He began speaking to the people, not only to leaders.”

It worked in Europe, but it did not work with Trump.

The clash in the Oval Office was broadcast worldwide. Trump accused Zelenskyy of ingratitude.

European diplomats warned him not to go — he went anyway. One diplomat: “He is stubborn and convinced that he knows better.”

But humiliation abroad boosted his standing at home. His approval rating rose to 74% and never fell below 58%.

Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko: “He defended the position of the Ukrainian people.” Foreign Minister Sybiha: “He knows how to take a punch.”

The real vulnerability is corruption. Protests in July forced a reversal on weakening anti-corruption institutions.

Scandals touched his closest circle, including long-time ally Yermak. Chykhotskyi: “I thought it was the end for him.” But it wasn’t.

Four years later, he is exhausted but remains at the center of events.

61% trust him, but only half want a second term. Most Ukrainians oppose elections during wartime.

Zelenskyy was supposed to disappear within days — but instead became an unbreakable wall in the war.

My first language is russian. But my native language is Ukrainian. It was my conscious choice back in my school years, when I began studying and reflecting on the history of my country. Since those school years, I have known this stanza by heart.

A terrible hunter will once again go out to hunt.
He will sweep all the birds into a single net.
Slaves are a nation that has no Word,
and therefore cannot defend itself.

“Russia is a terrorist state!”

A very clear message from the Lincoln Memorial on the 4th anniversary of the full-scale invasion.

Hungary and Slovakia should be kicked out of the EU.

Hungary and Slovakia are threatening to stop electricity exports to Ukraine if the transit of russian oil via the “Druzhba” pipeline is not restored.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has given a deadline until Monday to resume transit; otherwise, he will ask Slovak companies to halt emergency electricity supplies.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is also threatening to stop supplying electricity to Ukraine.

Can you imagine threatening to freeze Ukrainians to death because you didn’t get Putin’s oil — oil that is literally paying to kill Ukrainians?

“Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine on day 1 but Russia keeps escalating. The latest peace talks ended after just hours.

I served as Amb to Ukraine for 3 years in a war zone. When Trump kept appeasing Putin, I resigned. Where things stand ahead of the war’s 4th anniversary:

2025 was the deadliest year for civilians in Ukraine since the start of the war: 2,200+ killed.

Putin is attacking Ukraine’s energy grid, leaving millions without heat during winter, and seizing new territory.

Putin has zero interest in peace. Our own intel shows this.

Trump continues pressuring Ukraine, saying this week “Ukraine better come to the table fast, that’s all I’m telling you.” And appeasing Russia.

This threatens our national security & goes against our values. We must stand strong against aggressors & stand w/the fight for freedom.”

  1. Ukraine are a thorn in the side of the two most corrupt leaders in history. Ukraine are stopping their little plans to destroy Ukraine then Europe, but Ukraine will prevail.

You won’t find Ukrainians whining in videos to their leader, or Zelensky whining to TACO about mythical attempts on his life, unlike the bunker grandpa.

  2. Ukraine is an independent unitary state with long ago agreed legal borders.
Zel; a Jew and Umerov; a Krym Tatar, are UKRAINIANS. Just like every other Ukrainian.
Ukraine is not a homogenous society. Never has been:
The city of Mykolaiv contains 100 different ethnicities. Most of whom have been there for many centuries. Odesa is not far behind.
Just a few examples: Ukrainian Orthodox Christians, Jews, Muslims, Germans, Russians, Bulgarians, Koreans, Azeris, Azov Greeks, Krymchaks, Georgians, Yazidis, Tsegani, Kurds, Turks, Moldovans etc etc. In addition, there are Catholics and many denominations of Protestants; including evangelicals, Lutherans ets etc.
Until the pogroms kicked in, Ukraine was the most Jewish country in the world.
The beneficiary of the pogroms was America. Ukrainian Jews enriched it immensely and their loss weakened Ukraine.
Jews were welcomed back to Britain by Oliver Cromwell. They enriched it. They are under threat now from degenerates : an alliance of Islamists, far right and far left. Ukraine has none of those categories: ZERO.
Before 2022, Jews and Tatars were returning to Ukraine.
When/if the war ends, such people will need to be incentivized to return.
But the war is far from over and Ukraine needs 15 more divisions right now, in order to push the vermin out and hold the liberated territories.
They need 5 times the firepower they have currently.
Eventually Ukraine will need to have 2 million troops indefinitely. Or at least until the cauldron of devilry becomes a civilised democracy.
Which might take 100 or even 1000 more years.

  3. I believe that Zelensky has earned his place in history. I’m certain that his name will be amongst the greatest, like Winston Churchill or Abraham Lincoln.
This begs the question, who will the rest of Western leaders be related to? Blinky Bill? The Telletubbies? The Three Stooges? Sponge Bob?
Another thing is certain; the legacy of the orange pedophile slob and the fat, ugly toad will forever be negative ones, but in an evil context.

      • The cockroaches will lie anyway, regardless if they should win or lose. But even if Ukraine should lose, it won’t the change facts about his character.
