On the night of May 23, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a series of strikes on strategic Russian infrastructure facilities in the Novorossiysk area and in temporarily occupied territories. The attack resulted in damage to oil facilities, naval targets, and enemy military logistics.
The strikes are aimed at weakening the economic and military potential of the aggressor state, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the military, one of the key targets of the attack was the Sheskharis oil terminal in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Territory, Russia.
A hit and fire at the facility have been confirmed. This terminal is one of the largest in Russia on the Black Sea, is part of the Transneft system and has a throughput capacity of up to 75 million tons of oil per year.
The facility’s tank farm is about 1.28 million cubic meters, and the terminal itself plays an important role in ensuring oil exports and the needs of the Russian army.
Also, in the Novorossiysk region, the Grushova oil depot was hit. A fire was recorded on the territory of the facility. This oil depot is part of the Sheskharis complex and one of the largest tank farms in southern Russia.
Its capacity is estimated at 1.2–1.4 million cubic meters. The facility is used for storage, transshipment, and transportation of oil and petroleum products, including to provide military logistics for the occupation forces.
In addition to ground targets, Ukrainian units inflicted damage on the enemy’s naval infrastructure. In the Black Sea, the area where the so-called “shadow fleet” of Russia was based was attacked.
The damage to the tanker CHRYSALIS, which could be used to transport petroleum products in circumvention of international sanctions, has been confirmed.
In parallel, Ukrainian forces struck military facilities in the temporarily occupied territories. In particular, enemy communication nodes were hit in the settlements of Krasnorichenske in Luhansk region and Smile in Zaporizhia region. A material and technical equipment warehouse in the Frolivske district of Zaporizhia was also destroyed.
In the Donetsk region, an ammunition depot of Russian troops in Prechystivka came under attack , which could significantly affect the supply of enemy units in this direction.
“The Ukrainian Defense Forces will continue to systematically take measures to weaken the military-economic potential of the Russian occupiers and force the Russian Federation to cease armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff noted.
The successful operation was also confirmed on the Telegram channel of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
“Operators of the 1st separate center (and the 414th brigade “Birds of the Magyar” in cooperation with the SSO, GUR of the Ministry of Defense and other components of the Defense Forces struck the Sheskharis oil terminal. Also, operators of the 1st separate center, together with the SSO, GUR of the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the Grushovaya oil depot in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation,” the report says.
The SBS emphasized that both facilities are part of a single transshipment complex used for the reception, storage, and sea shipment of Russian oil.
“DeepStrike systematic strikes on the most important strategic facilities of the aggressor country will continue until the Russian Federation ceases armed aggression,” the message states.
It was previously reported that on the evening of Friday, May 22, Novorossiysk (Krasnodar Territory, Russia) complained about an attack by Ukrainian UAVs. Air defense tried to work on the targets, but it is already known about the hit – the port was hit, fires broke out at the oil terminals “Grushova” and “Sheskharis”, the damage was confirmed by the commander of the SBS Robert Brovdi.
As OBOZ.UA reported, photos appeared on the Internet showing the consequences of the military strikes by the Defense Forces on the territory of occupied Crimea on the night of April 17. Then the Belbek military airfield came under attack by drones.
