A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 occurred near the coast of Kamchatka (Russian Federation) . Aftershocks were recorded 108 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

This is reported by the Russian propaganda agency TASS . It is noted that the residents of the region left their homes. The earthquake itself was followed by a series of aftershocks. The magnitude of one of them was 4.7.

Soon the eruption of the Shiveluch volcano began in Kamchatka. Local telegram channels write that volcanic ash has already fallen in Ust-Kamchatsk.

“The Shiveluch volcano has been assigned an orange aviation hazard code (ash emissions pose a serious threat to aviation),” the message reads .

At the same time, there is no threat of a tsunami after the earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

Other cataclysms

Taiwan was shaken by two strong earthquakes at once. So, on August 15, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 occurred near the northeastern coast of Taiwan. And on August 16, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 occurred in the east of the island.
