Diplomat, expert of the Center for Defense Strategies on foreign and security policy Oleksandr Khara believes that Ukrainian strategic goals do not coincide with the American ones
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“Our strategic goals do not coincide with the American ones. Russians have bipolar disorder, it is a political and social disease. At the same time, Russia has great power because it is a nuclear power. It is also a fragile state because it believed that small Ukraine could attack and destroy it. This bipolar disorder is actually implanted in American brains. On the one hand, the United States does not want Russia to collapse, but on the other hand, it does not want an escalation when Putin pushes the red button. This limitation has shaped the strategy that the Americans are still implementing,” Khara explained.
According to the expert of the Center for Defense Strategies on foreign and security policy, the US strategy is that Ukraine should hold on.
“That Ukraine should launch 1 or 2 powerful military strikes against Russian troops on the territory of the Russian Federation, thus forcing Putin to the negotiating table. They keep saying that there should be some kind of political and diplomatic end to this war. For Ukraine, the goal is that we must liberate all our territories and become a member of NATO to secure ourselves in the future,” Khara said.
The diplomat also added that the difference in goals is that Ukraine wants the collapse of the Putin regime through military defeat and to reduce Russia’s resource base. For the Americans, this is not entirely acceptable, and they criticized it.
“The US does not want the world price of energy to rise. By the way, American analysts and former military diplomats criticize their own government for having a failed strategy and for not helping Ukraine enough for Ukraine to win. The American strategic framework limits our actions,” Hara emphasized.
- US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Putin now believes in his strength and that he can defeat Ukraine and its allies. However, in his opinion, there are a number of factors that will prevent him from doing so.
- Ukraine is already receiving weapons from a new aid package announced earlier by the United States as part of a renewed military support program.

Biden never had a strategy or plan, he never had an idea which way this war should go. He knows only which way the ice cream truck is going when he hurries after it.
Biden may think twice should the icecream guy tell him he won’t vote for him. 🙄
(it must still be said that if you increase the price of energy and oil, you increase the far right everywhere, which will ultimately undermine support for Ukraine….)
Only if you’ve lost your moral compass.
Ukraine’s attack on mafia refineries is exactly what EVERYONE else would do, being in its position. If the West hadn’t been such an utter failure right across the entire board, such measures would not be necessary. It’s a direct result of miscalculations made in Western capitals.
This article is spot on. The Biden administration and western Europe does not want Russia to “win” and it also does not really want Russia to loose because of the perceived resulting instability in a country with thousands of nuclear weapons and the resulting impact on “world oil prices” etc. The lack of moral courage and clarity in refusing to support Ukraine in restoring their internationally recognized national boundaries is beyond despicable. It is especially distressing since the US and Great Britain convinced Ukraine to give up their nuclear weapons in the early 90’s by promising to ensure their national boundaries would stay inviolate.
Our western “leaders” appear to be nothing but cynical manipulators. Thus the pathetic display of “western resolve” with continual dithering on which weapons to send, yes we will, no we won’t, always sending too little too late, refusing to actually go to a war footing with military production etc. The cynicism of knowing you really don’t want Ukraine to win and knowingly and continually sending just enough to keep Ukraine (and Russia bleeding) is beyond morally bankrupt.
It is time and past time for the US and western Europe to consistently provide unstinting military and financial support on a pre announced multi year commitment to ensure Russian defeat and Ukrainian victory.
indeed the USA is calibrating this war so as not to have giant Balkans… this fear is probably shared by half of Europe too…
In the calculations of the USA there must also be what China can accept over time and that it does not emerge strengthened from the collapse of the Russian Federation. this Russia Federation which does not seem to have a well-established and precise knowledge of the tracing of its different borders which is not promising either…
what was not foreseen in the calculations is the nuisance power of Trump, who in addition to having to learn to count, should remember his country’s commitments as you rightly reminded them. Trump prevented any corrections for a while.
Trump should remember his country’s commitments? You mean like when Obama and Biden honored Budapest in 2014?
Trump should certainly not have blocked aid to Ukraine, blocked the situation when it must be constantly sculpted… nor said that all kinds of bullshit which harms the USA, the West and even in the whole world…
Did any party block government action during the Cuban Missile Crisis?
If you will remember correctly, Johnson had a bipartisan bill right after meeting with Trump. Even a rabid partisan should see what happened here. Besides that, find me ONE statement by Trump to block the legislation….I will wait.
