In particular, the USA attacked the underground facilities of the Houthis.
American B-2 stealth bombers struck weapons storage facilities associated with the Houthi rebels in Yemen, Bloomberg reports .
According to journalists, such attacks became the last attempt to stop the shelling of the group, which is supported by Iran. The attacks are known to have disrupted commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin noted that five fortified underground facilities were hit. According to him, the use of B-2 bombers was intended to send a special signal.
“This was a unique demonstration of the ability of the United States to strike targets that our adversaries try to keep out of reach, regardless of how deep they are buried underground or fortified,” Austin emphasized.
At the same time, US Central Command reported that the bunkers contained “missiles, weapon components and other munitions used to target military and civilian vessels throughout the region.”
The agency added that the US Air Force and Navy participated in the operation, and there is currently no information on civilian casualties.
