The ship was heading from the Turkish port of Yalova to Novorossiysk.

The tanker Cordelia Moon carrying Russian oil broke down in the Bosphorus Strait. According to an expert, this vessel is part of the so-called “shadow fleet” that has been transporting oil from the Black and Baltic Sea ports since 2022.
“I am saying that the events of the last few days are already a Sign, and not some kind of ‘hazelnut and hawthorn’,” said the head of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies, Andrey Klimenko.
According to him, the 274-meter-long tanker Cordelia Moon, flying the Panama flag, broke down in the Bosphorus. The vessel was heading from the Turkish port of Yalova to Novorossiysk, which led to a complete cessation of traffic in both directions.
“This is our old suspect. It has been transporting Russian oil from the ports of the Black and Baltic Seas since 2022 under various names,” the specialist emphasizes.
As Reuters reports , citing Tribeca, the tanker Cordelia Moon, which was heading to Russia, stopped on December 26 due to an engine failure in the Yenikoy area. A vessel was sent to the scene to provide assistance.
“The engine of the 274-meter vessel broke down during the route from Yalova to Russia. Tugboats secured the vessel with cables, ensuring its safety,” the Turkish Transport Ministry reported.
It is said that the movement of ships to the south in the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey was promised to be restored yesterday evening.
According to open sources, the Cordelia Moon, built in 2006, appears in Lloyd’s List reports as part of the Kremlin’s shadow fleet – one of the vessels used to circumvent sanctions imposed on Russian oil.

Strange, very strange.
Will we see another oil spill happening?
Clearly, we should’ve done a lot more to counter mafia land’s shadow fleet, which is largely made up of dilapidated rust buckets. They are a danger to this war and to our environment.
Tow it to a port, and keep it there.
