EU leaders at the summit will call the creation of a Special Tribunal under the auspices of the Council of Europe an important step.

The EU leaders’ summit in Brussels on 20-21 March will support the Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, and the conclusions of the European Council will stress the need to bring those responsible to justice and declare the importance of creating a special tribunal.
This is reported by European Pravda , citing the draft text of the summit’s conclusions, which it received.
It is noted that the EU leaders at the summit will call the creation of a Special Tribunal under the auspices of the Council of Europe an important step, which aims to punish those guilty of the crime of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, primarily Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the top leadership of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, it is said that the part of the conclusions dedicated to Ukraine will not be supported by Hungary, so it is expected that 26 out of 27 EU states will approve it.
“The European Council reaffirms the EU’s strong commitment to ensuring full accountability for war crimes and other serious crimes committed in connection with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. In this context, the progress achieved in establishing a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine within the Council of Europe is an important step,” the document cites the publication.
