Ukraine regained control of the platforms in September last year.
All the so-called ” Boyko rigs ” in the Black Sea have caught fire. This is reported by the monitoring group ” Krymskiy Veter ” with reference to satellite imagery data.

Three drilling platforms east of Snake Island were reportedly attacked. As of August 24, the middle platform was on fire and a column of smoke was coming from the third platform.
Ukraine has previously struck Black Sea platforms. The fact is that they were used by the Russians to store equipment with which they monitored the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Black Sea.Video of the day
The Ukrainians regained control of the platforms in September 2023. Special forces captured a stockpile of unguided aircraft missiles and a Neva radar station that can track ships.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, after the platforms were liberated, the Russians lost some intelligence capabilities , while the Defense Forces received new tools for successful operations in the Black Sea and Crimea.

“Boyko Towers” – reference
“Boyko’s rigs” are the name given to the gas drilling platforms “Petro Godovanets” and “Ukraine”. They were built in 2010 and 2012, respectively.
The purchase of the platforms led to a major scandal: former Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko was then accused of possible embezzlement of state funds on an especially large scale.
In March 2014, the drilling rigs were seized by Russian troops. Later, the Pechersk Court of Kyiv seized the rigs.
