Ali Khamenei’s son appointed as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, media reports

The next Supreme Leader of Iran was Ali Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The Assembly of Experts has elected Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Ali Khamenei, as the next Supreme Leader of Iran, Iran International reports.

Ali Khamenei: what is known

Iranian state media confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Sunday morning, March 1. He had ruled Iran for 37 years. It came as a result of a US and Israeli attack on Khamenei’s residence.

Earlier, the media reported that during the transition period, Iran will be led by President Masoud Pezeshkian, the head of the judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, and one of the members of the Guardian Council of the Constitution.
