United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres called for an immediate halt to the bloodshed following airstrikes by the Russian invading army on a maternity hospital in Mariupol.

Guterres announced this on the Twitter microblog .

“Today’s attack on a hospital in Mariupol (March 9 – UNIAN), where the maternity and children’s departments are located, is terrible. Civilians are paying the highest price for a war that does not concern them in any way. This senseless violence must stop. Stop the bloodshed now,” – Guterres stressed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 9, during an air raid by Russian aircraft on Mariupol, a  maternity hospital in the city center was destroyed , as well as a hospital, a children’s department and a therapy department. As a result of the strike, 17 people were injured.

  1. The UN Sec Gen can “call” all he wants, Putin won’t listen. If he wants to get Putin’s attention make a move to suspend their voting rights because of Putin’s war crimes and crimes against humanity or for violating the UN charter, etc. There are plenty of reasons.
