China has adjusted its drone export controls following a visit to China by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. Beijing has restricted the export of military drones from the country.
Bloomberg reported this. The publication notes that China is facing growing criticism from the United States and its allies due to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Several Chinese agencies, including the Central Military Commission, have added drones with high-precision measuring equipment to a blacklist. The changes, which are an addition to last year’s list, will take effect on September 1.
Meanwhile, China lifted a ban on the export of commercial-grade drones, with the Commerce Department stressing that civilian equipment should not be used for “proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, terrorism or military purposes.”
The publication notes that Xi Jinping’s government introduced this directive several days after Dmytro Kuleba visited Beijing for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion.
China has repeatedly denied Western criticism that it sends dual-use goods with military applications to Russia.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Bloomberg also wrote earlier that Chinese and Russian companies are developing a strike drone similar to the Iranian Shahed, which the infidels are already using to attack Ukraine. Thus, Beijing may come closer to providing assistance to the aggressor in the form of lethal weapons, which Western officials warned China against.
