On the night of April 20, explosions were heard again in Tuapse (Krasnodar Territory, Russia). Previously, a drone attack had brought results – local residents saw a fire.
The townspeople filmed the work of Russian air defense from their windows, ignoring the alarm. The video shows the characteristic sound of long-range UAV engines, shots from Russian air defenses, and flashes in the sky.
Also in the area of the coastline, the Russians noticed a fire. The Telegram channel Exilenova+ suggests that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have again struck either the local port or the oil refinery. They are located nearby.
“There is a large-scale fire at the facility,” the post says. There is no official confirmation of the damage yet.
What preceded
Recall that very recently – on April 19 – Russian firefighters extinguished a fire caused by a previous attack on a refinery in the city of Tuapse.
The fire was only brought under control on the fourth day after it started, as the explosions in this settlement occurred on the night of April 16. The target of the attack was a local oil refinery, owned by Rosneft and located in the seaport area.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (as well as a source in the SBU) confirmed the damage to the Tuapse refinery.
This plant is a key link in the fuel and lubricants supply chain for the groups of troops operating in the southern direction and in the occupied Crimea. The refinery is capable of producing fuel necessary for armored vehicles and aviation. Damage to such facilities directly affects the mobility of troops.
As OBOZ.UA wrote, Russia is losing $100 million every day due to difficulties with energy exports. Such losses were caused by the campaign of long-range strikes by the Defense Forces against Russian oil infrastructure facilities.
