Advertising structures are being dismantled en masse in Odessa: 50 billboards will be removed on Admiralsky Avenue

The dismantling of 50 billboards on Admiralsky Avenue was approved by the executive committee of the Odessa City Council on March 28.

The mayor’s office reported that in this way the number of advertising structures on the avenue will be reduced by 64% – only 28 such objects will remain.

The decision was made within the framework of the “Action Plan to Reduce Advertising Structures” being implemented by the city, which was agreed upon with the owners of advertising media. 300 poster booths have already been removed from the streets, which is 80% of all installed.

The fight against billboards and similar objects is also due to the inclusion of the historical center of Odessa in the UNESCO cultural heritage protection list.

“Negotiations have been held with the owners of advertising structures to reduce the amount of outdoor advertising in our city. An understanding has been found – the number of carriers will be reduced by almost half. In addition, it is planned to gradually update and bring advertising structures to a modern look,” said Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
