Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated that Vladimir Putin is seeking to seize all of Ukraine, and to prevent him, the United States should supply Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers to strike Russian military facilities.
“I want to supply Ukraine with Tomahawks. I want the United States to supply Tomahawks so they can destroy the infrastructure that [President] Putin relies on to build drones and everything else. I want to change the balance of power,” the senator told reporters. Graham is known as a key co-author of the law on what he called “hellish” sanctions against Russia, which calls for the imposition of 500% tariffs on imports to the United States from countries purchasing Russian oil, gas, uranium, and other raw materials.
Discussions regarding the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv began in the fall of 2025. In late October, the Pentagon, as CNN reported, approved such deliveries, but the final decision remains with President Donald Trump. The network’s sources said the US president views this measure as leverage against Russia.
Graham last called for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to be supplied with Tomahawk missiles after the heaviest nighttime shelling of Ukrainian infrastructure by Russian forces on February 3rd since the beginning of the year. He reported in X that he urged Trump to begin the process of transferring the missiles to Kyiv in order to “change the rules of the game militarily.”
In December, Graham called on Trump to launch a campaign to capture Russia’s shadowy tankers carrying sanctioned oil and increase pressure on Putin.
