Neither the Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran nor the NGU serviceman knew the details of the operation.

In the Luhansk region, Ukrainian military personnel conducted a unique special operation, freeing a veteran of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a current member of the National Guard of Ukraine. This was reported by Military Ombudsman Olga Reshetilova and the “Angels” naval special reconnaissance unit on Facebook .

It was noted that during the special operation, a 29-year-old veteran of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a 34-year-old active-duty serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine were rescued from Russian captivity. They had been missing in action for over three years.

The mother of a Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran, who is also a service member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, told the military ombudsman that her son was hiding in the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region and had previously been held captive by Russia for three years. Preparations for a rescue operation began shortly thereafter.

It was later discovered that a collaborator was holding an active-duty NGU serviceman captive near the Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran’s location. According to Artem Dyblenko, a special intelligence officer, the operation was complex and risky.

“In fact, two parallel special operations were taking place—the guys were taken out separately from each other until a certain point,” he said.Read also:

Dyblenko noted that neither the Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran nor the NGU serviceman knew the details of the operation. He emphasized that they had to trust the intelligence officers and strictly follow their instructions.
