Ukrainian military aircraft hit a target on the territory of the Russian Federation for the first time during the war  .

“Although the damage assessment is still being carried out, a direct hit has already been confirmed,” a Ukrainian military source told Sky News .

The source specified that a “Russian command center” was fired upon in the Belgorod area today.

The publication noted that it is not yet clear what type of ammunition was used in the attack, that is, whether it was a Western weapon.

On condition of anonymity, a military source told the publication: “The mission of the Ukrainian Air Force struck the Russian command center in Belgorod.”

As the publication noted, this is the first munition of the Armed Forces launched from the air at a target on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The Ukrainian military source also added that yesterday evening the Armed Forces launched a “coordinated attack” on a Russian amphibious assault ship that had recently entered the Sea of ​​Azov from the Black Sea.

According to the source, this ship became the fifth of seven amphibious ships of the “Ropucha” class, which were sunk or “disabled” as a result of attacks by the Armed Forces.

“This successful strike shows the Russians that they cannot act freely either in the Black Sea or in the east,” the source added.

According to the source, the Russian military uses such ships to transport ammunition and cargo to occupied Mariupol for further transportation to the front line.

“By preventing the supply of Russian ammunition and key military materials, this strike will directly support Ukrainian forces in their long-term struggle,” the source commented.

Permission to use western weapons

Recently, the authorities of the USA and France  allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine to use their weapons to attack military facilities on the territory of Russia, from where the Russian occupiers launch attacks on Ukraine.

According to new guidelines approved by President Joe Biden, American munitions can be used on Russian territory to defend the city of Kharkiv.
