A serious accident occurred at the TPP-1 on Sakhalin Island, after which several settlements and districts were left without electricity. Before the power went out, a bright flash was visible in the area of the station.

The power went out simultaneously at approximately 7:40 a.m. local time, Russian Telegram channels reported. The first areas without power were the microdistricts of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk , followed by Makarov, Poronaysk, Vuglegirsk, Kholmsk, Tomari, Dolynsk, Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinsky, and Korsakov.

Causes of the accident at CHPP-1 on Sakhalin

The Russian company Sakhalinenergo reported that the protection system divided the island’s power system into northern and southern parts. As a result, the production of CHPP-1 was allegedly reduced to the level of its own needs.

“As a result of the operation of the protection system, the Sakhalin power system was divided into southern and northern parts, with the unloading of the South Sakhalin CHPP-1 to the load of its own needs,” Sakhalinenergo explained.

The reasons for the emergency operation of the automation are not mentioned and they promised to connect the CHP generators to the network within two hours, but by the evening the situation had not improved. Sakhalin GRES-2 is supplying power to the north of the island in isolated mode.

As OBOZ.UA reported, the other day, the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation complained about a “massive UAV attack.” It was allegedly “repelled” – in particular, with the help of the Balashovskaya power line substation.

  1. I doubt this was caused by a Ukrainian attack, but rather due to the deteriorating situation of mafia land. There is no money to fix the shithole’s infrastructure. All of it is going to its illegal and wicked war. It’ll be an interesting winter for the warmongers.
