A Russian ship with sanctioned goods that were supposed to be delivered to the United States was detained in Germany .

According to Bild , the cargo ship Atlantic Navigator II, traveling from St. Petersburg and to the United States, was forced to call at the German port of Rostock due to damage to the propeller. During the inspection, customs inspectors found goods on board that were under EU sanctions and prohibited the ship from continuing its journey.

As the Ostseezeitung newspaper reported, the ship was carrying birch wood and enriched uranium for American nuclear power plants, and it was detained precisely because of the wood. The total value of the cargo is about 40 million euros. The damaged vessel is in the fleet of the shipping company, which has branches and offices in Canada, the USA, Russia (St. Petersburg) and Ukraine (Odessa) and other countries.

German media write that the ship was detained precisely because of the wood that came from the factories of a Russian oligarch included in the EU sanctions list.

Sanctions against the Russian Federation

Previously, the South Korean government imposed sanctions against two Russian ships involved in transporting military cargo to North Korea.

It is noted that these ships were transporting a large number of containers with military cargo between Russia and North Korea. Seoul also imposed sanctions against two Russian organizations and two individuals who represent them. They are involved in sending North Korean workers to the Russian Federation, including IT personnel.

  1. Pooh, it’s good to read about German officials enforcing sanctions, for once. But shame on the US companies, who must be involved in this, for ignoring the rules in this brazen way! 🤨

  2. Anyone involved in sanctions circumvention must go to jail and be Bubba’s bitch for a few years.
