Despite the sanctions, Russian billionaire Zarah Iliev was able to bring a new elite plane worth $110 million to Russia from the European Union. It is a new Airbus A320neo business jet.

This is reported by The Moscow Times with reference to sources in the business aviation market.

Iliev is one of the founders of the Russian company “Kyivska Ploshcha”, which deals with commercial real estate in Russia. His fortune is estimated at $3 billion, the businessman is under US and UK sanctions.

Iliev bought his plane to replace an old Airbus A318CJ, one of the sources said. The second interlocutor confirms that the owner is connected to the Kyiv Square group.

The plane left the factory in 2019 under the serial number 8774. In January 2020, it flew to Basel to be fitted with a VIP interior and painted – it took a whole year.

The aircraft was purchased through a company registered in San Marino with an address in Malta. The plane received the number T7-HHH, in the summer of 2022 it was re-registered under Azerbaijani registration, and then under Tajik registration. On June 14, 2024, the board was officially registered in Russia.

According to the publication, the Airbus A320neo is the first business jet of this class in Russia. The liner can fly a distance of more than 11,000 kilometers with 25 passengers, staying in the air for up to 13 hours. There are only about 10 such planes in the world.
