The president also spoke about further steps in creating a joint European anti-ballistic shield within the framework of the Freya project.

A new batch of Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles is expected to arrive soon to shoot down Russian ballistic missiles, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in comments to United24 Media in Ankara.

“Now one package will come, I won’t say when, – one PAC-3 package. We agreed. But this is not enough. The only correct option is an alternative to PAC-3,” Zelensky said.

As the head of state noted, Ukraine is organizing a meeting of the anti-ballistic missile coalition countries.

“Now, under our chairmanship, I think that in the coming weeks, maybe even a week, we will try to gather the countries that are now part of the anti-ballistic coalition. These are countries that have production facilities that produce parts for our future system called Freya,” the president added.

He noted that this is about our European anti-ballistic missile system. Up to seven countries will participate in this process.

“Of course, we will build a system. We will build enough in Ukraine and share technologies with all countries,” Zelenskyy said.

Patriot for Ukraine

Recently, Ukraine’s air defense forces have been unable to shoot down Russian ballistic missiles because there are no reserves of Patriot interceptor missiles.

On July 8, US President Donald Trump said that the US may grant Ukrainians permission to produce interceptors for Patriot systems .

At the same time, according to Bloomberg, organizing the production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems in Ukraine will be a long and complex process and could take years.
