“A moment that struck me beyond belief”: a soldier recounted what the mother of a fallen soldier told his commander at the funeral, and stirred up the internet

The warrior who gave his life in close combat with the Russian occupiers, Artur Skavreniuk, returned home on his shield . Family, comrades, and everyone who knew and respected the hero came to see the defender off on his final journey.

According to Volodymyr Parasyuk, a serviceman and People’s Deputy of the 8th convocation, a moment occurred during the funeral that deeply impressed those present. The commander of the company where Artur served approached his mother and, barely holding back his emotions, said: “I’m sorry that your son returned home like this, I sincerely apologize.”

However, Arthur’s mother’s response was unexpected and at the same time extremely strong: “You have nothing to apologize for. It is I who must apologize for the mistakes of my generation, which, through its unconsciousness, contributed to the fact that young boys like you, who have to live and live, now have to take up arms. Don’t apologize and most importantly, live! Live and return home!”

Parasiuk added that Artur was a brave warrior who devoted himself to the cause to the fullest, and gave the most valuable thing – his own life.

According to him, the man came to serve voluntarily in the unit together with his brother Andriy.

“Believe me, seeing one brother standing over the grave of another is like some kind of parallel reality. You can’t believe it’s happening right now. It’s hard to even imagine the pain in his heart,” Parasiuk wrote.

It is noted that from the first days of the war, Artur Skavreniuk decided to confront the enemy. First, he joined the territorial defense, and then, together with his younger brother, he went to contract service. The defender fought his last battle on January 26, 2025, near Chasovy Yar. Now he is forever 37 years old.

Acquaintances of the fallen warrior will remember him as a cheerful, sensitive, kind and desperate person. At the same time, friends and comrades added that it was not scary with Arthur, because he was a reliable comrade.

“If Artur was behind us, there was no need to look back,” recalled Serhiy Samsonyuk, a friend of the deceased Artur.

So says a poor mother, who lost her loving and brave son in a war that was made possible by numerous worthless, pathetic, greedy, unethical politicians, like Merkel, Sarkozy, Obama, and many others who failed to do the right thing at the right time. What are they saying about their guilt?
