At a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, they considered the importance of continuing to provide support to Ukraine.

A group of NATO member countries plans to realize the goal of supplying Ukraine with one million drones.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this at a briefing in Brussels after a meeting of the defense ministers of the Alliance member countries.

The Secretary General of the Alliance said that a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council took place today. In particular, according to him, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov joined the meeting via video link and informed his fellow ministers about the latest developments at the front. The issue of the importance of continued support for Ukraine from NATO members was also discussed.

Stoltenberg added that in recent days the allies have announced new support packages for Ukraine.

In particular, he noted that Canada, Finland and Norway have pledged assistance to address key capabilities in the form of equipment and spare parts for F-16 fighter jets and air defense systems.

“A group of allies is uniting for the purpose of supplying one million drones to Ukraine,” Stoltenberg emphasized.

Also, 20 NATO allies agreed to create a mine clearance coalition.

“All this will help save Ukrainian lives,” Stoltenberg emphasized.

According to him, assistance from the alliance member countries together makes up 99% of the total assistance that Ukraine receives from the international community. “Our unwavering commitment is important to preserving Ukraine’s freedom,” Stoltenberg said.

At the same time, he said that the United States has provided Ukraine with about $75 billion in military, financial and humanitarian assistance since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. Other NATO members and partners have provided more than $100 billion in aid to Ukraine.

He also expects the US Congress to agree on a new aid package for Ukraine. Stoltenberg said that during his recent visit to Washington, politicians from both parties confirmed broad support for him to help Ukraine. “I expect that this majority in Congress, in one way or another, will be reflected in the decision,” Stoltenberg emphasized.

  1. “A million drones”, that would be great, but when? A promise like ‘80.0ü0 drones a month, starting in May’ would be better, imho. Make it a steady, reliable stream, not a huge package at some undefined point in the future!

  2. Tommorrow the free and democratic world is celebrating the 400.000th killed Nazi in Ukraine. Popcorn and beer ready. And champagne!

  3. That would be very welcome and great if it should come to pass within a reasonable time period. At any rate, thank you!
