The Greek tanker Skiros was attacked in the Black Sea after loading Russian oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal near Novorossiysk.

The vessel was targeted after it had already received a shipment of oil for further transport.

According to the publication’s sources, the incident occurred on Sunday, August 16, near the terminal. The Suezmax-class Skiros can carry about 1 million barrels of oil.

The CPC is primarily used to export Kazakhstani oil, but on this occasion, the tanker loaded a Russian shipment.

An Athens-based company, listed in the Equasis system as the operator of the Skiros, stated that no one was injured as a result of the incident and that no pollution occurred. The company declined to comment further.

This is the first attack on a vessel calling at the CPC terminal after a nearly three-week hiatus. Last month, a series of drone attacks had already led to disruptions in oil loading and reduced production at Kazakh oil fields.

The CPC is one of the key export routes for Kazakhstani oil. Recently, nearly 2% of global oil shipments passed through it.
