Its cost is estimated at approximately 2 million pounds sterling.

A fire broke out at the home of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in north London on the night of May 12. Counter-terrorism police are investigating the incident.

According to The Telegraph , the fire broke out at around 1:35 a.m. The cause was not disclosed, but it is known that the flames damaged the entrance to the house. The fire was contained within 20 minutes, and no one was injured in the incident.

The Metropolitan Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. According to the newspaper’s sources, the referral of the case to the Counter-Terrorism Department is a common practice in a situation where the injured party is a high-ranking person. Downing Street declined to provide details:

“The Prime Minister thanks the emergency services for their work. The incident is being investigated in real time and we will not be providing any further comment.”

Starmer and his wife reportedly paid £650,000 for their three-storey house in 2004. It is located next to the homes of Energy Secretary Ed Miliband and actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The family moved into Downing Street last summer.

    • You have to wonder why the house was not protected by armed guards. He’s the leader of the country, not some meaningless diplomat.

  1. A door was damaged as the result of the fire. I doubt Starmer will lose any sleep over this.
