One Ukrainian soldier was killed, another was seriously wounded and subsequently had his leg amputated, and the journalists suffered minor injuries.

The incident occurred on October 13 at approximately 9:35 PM local time, while a team from the German publication Welt was preparing a report with a mobile Ukrainian air defense group in an open field in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. At that moment, they were attacked by a Russian Lancet drone, Welt reports .
The article suggests that the Russians’ target was likely a parked military vehicle belonging to the Ukrainian unit of the 42nd Brigade, which was accompanying the reporters’ team during their work.
Russian occupiers attacked a team of Western journalists and Ukrainian defenders approximately 25-30 kilometers from the line of contact. This occurred just after the correspondents had interviewed three Ukrainian soldiers and were standing just meters away.
The publication reported that a 48-year-old Ukrainian soldier from an air defense unit was killed in the Russian attack. Another Ukrainian soldier was seriously wounded, and his leg was subsequently amputated.
It was added that WELT producer Ivan Z. suffered injuries to both legs from metal debris flying around him. He required emergency treatment and surgery at the hospital. WELT chief reporter Ibrahim Naber and cameraman Viktor Lysenko suffered minor injuries. The publication emphasized that the reporters were wearing journalist identification on their clothing during filming.

It is reported that the cameraman managed to capture the moment of the strike and the aftermath on video.

This footage is part of a report in which WELT documents the attack and will air shortly. Reporter Naber posted several of the images on social media.
