A memorial service for the deceased was held at St. Michael’s Cathedral at 12:00.

After that, a farewell ceremony was held on Independence Square.

Victoria Roshchina will be buried at the Baikovo Cemetery in Kyiv.
As a reminder, Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchina was captured by Russian forces in August 2023. Then she went to report from the territories occupied by Russia.
For over a year, her family and friends waited for Victoria to be exchanged and returned home. However, in October 2024, her father received news from the Russians that Victoria had died in captivity. During this time, she was held in various prisons, and in recent months, Russia has been holding the Ukrainian journalist in detention center No. 2 in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, Russia.
In Russian captivity, Viktoriya Roshchina was brutally tortured – there were knife wounds on her body, the journalist weighed up to 30 kilograms, and the employees of the Russian colony hid her from checks. On the eve of the burial, a new forensic medical examination revealed a number of injuries on Viktoriya Roshchina’s body that had not been reported before. In particular, she had a neck injury, bone fractures, hemorrhages in the soft tissues of the temporal region, right shoulder and lower legs, and an abrasion on her left foot.
