On the morning of January 13, a series of powerful explosions rocked Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, Russia. The target of the attack in the city was the Atlant-Aero plant, which develops and produces drones.

After the flights arrived, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise. This is reported by monitoring Telegram channels.

Attack details

According to eyewitnesses, the strike hit the workshops of the Beriev Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex. Local governor Yuriy Slyusar said that the region was being attacked by UAVs.

The official complained about the explosions and the work of air defense over Taganrog at around 6:00 a.m. The governor said that “data on the consequences on the ground are being clarified.”

Residents of Taganrog are complaining on social media that local authorities failed to sound an air raid alert in time. Eyewitnesses also said they counted about 10 explosions.

What is known about the Atlant-Aero plant?

According to the War & Sanctions portal of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Atlant-Aero LLC specializes in the development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles. The plant is a manufacturer of FPV kamikaze aircraft of the Molniya-1 and Molniya-2 types, as well as the Molniya-2R reconnaissance UAV.

The plant participates in the production of components for the Orion heavy strike drones. The enterprise also develops and assembles electronic warfare systems.

Eyewitnesses published photos of a large fire after the drone attack. There were also pictures of the debris of a Russian Pantsir-S missile.

Recall that on the night of January 10, the target of the attack was the Zhutovsk oil depot in the Volgograd region . Other enemy facilities were also attacked.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that  only 8 HIMARS missiles caused a blackout in Belgorod.  The successful launches, which left about half a million Russians without electricity and heating, took place on the night of January 9. Another 200,000 residents of the region faced water supply problems.
