A crumbling of Zelensky’s government could be good news and bring an end to the war, claims retired US colonel

U.S. Colonel Douglas Macgregor claims the removal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “may pave the way for ending this terrible war”

In the shadow of the Russo-Ukrainian war, the Ukrainian government has been in a state of slow but sure disintegration for weeks, retired U.S. Colonel Douglas Macgregor has claimed.

In a social media post, the former Pentagon adviser suggested the fall of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government could help to shift the conflict towards a conclusion.

“Zelensky is at very high risk of being removed. This is potentially good news, his removal may pave the way for ending this terrible war,” Macgregor wrote.

Macgregor also claimed in an earlier post that the conflict was ending in a crushing defeat for Ukraine and its allies, and has been another PR disaster for the United States, which is confronting “a world it does not know or understand.”

He added that the Biden administration had “failed” the United States on foreign policy.

While the administration in Kyiv becomes more fragile, the Kremlin has announced major changes to its government with Russian President Vladimir Putin appointing Andrey Belousov as defense minister, meaning Sergei Shoigu is unlikely to continue as minister in the new government.

Shoigu is expected to become secretary of the Russian Security Council.

  1. “Zelensky is at very high risk of being removed. This is potentially good news, his removal may pave the way for ending this terrible war,”

It looks like this POS has just received his orders from the dwarf. It was predicted that the propaganda would start close to when Ukraine was due to have an election. Well McGregor you have been wrong about everything so far in this war, without one apology.

The war would end a lot quicker if putler was removed, and traitors like you rounded up and sent to prison.

        • He was well regarded after Desert Storm. That regard was not long lasting as he only made Colonel. Had he kept that regard, he would have gotten at least one star. He made too many enemies, and made a number of nutty statements about the organization of the Army.

          • I hear ya but he hasn’t been highly regarded in any of the circles I’m in. Desert Storm was over 30 years ago. He should have retired gracefully but since he hasn’t, tells me his state of mind…dementia

          • How was he well regarded in Desert Storm? What did he achieve there? If he was so great, why didn’t he retire with at least a star?

        • He wasn’t even in office a few weeks so I don’t know how he was highly respected either unless they’re talking about his propaganda aired on CNN.

  2. Breaking news: on 1 October 2023 Ukraine destroyed the helipad with the presidential choppers in Sochi near his posh residence. Only Ukraine did not know at the moment that putin was in his residence.

  3. “Shoigu is expected to become secretary of the Russian Security Council.”

Macgregor would be a better pick. He’s a friend of Trumpkov too. Yet another lying psychopath.

What is it with Trumpkov and psychopaths?

Putler, Orban, Moscow Marge and now he’s a fan of Hannibal Lecter.

    From the DT today :

“During a 90-minute speech in front of an estimated 100,000 supporters in Wildwood, New Jersey – a record for a political rally in the state – the former president baffled his crowd by recalling the 1991 horror film.
“He oftentimes would have a friend for dinner,” he said.
“But Hannibal Lecter. Congratulations, the late great Hannibal Lecter. We have people who are being released into our country that we don’t want in our country, and they’re coming in totally unchecked, totally unvetted.”

Turns out he’s also a fan of Al Capone :

“I’ve been indicted more than the great Alphonse Capone. Scarface. Al Capone was so mean that if you went to dinner with him and he didn’t like you, you’d be dead the next morning,” he said.”

    Madder than a shithouse rat.

    • 100,000 my ass. Here’s an excerpt from an article in USA TODAY

“….But the Republican mayor of Wildwood had previously stated that the beach could hold up to 20,000 people, and roughly that many tickets had been requested.

It’s unclear just how many people showed up – and how many stayed through the winding 90-minute speech. On X, formerly Twitter, Walter Masterson shared “35 unedited minutes showing thousands of MAGA walking out on Trump while he’s still talking.”

USA Today reporter Zac Anderson posted a similar video on X, showing that much of the crowd had dispersed long before the former president stopped speaking. This whole area was full of people when Trump started,” Anderson wrote.”

      The man knows exaggeration

  4. I posted an article by Yulia Tymoshenko this morning. Even if Yulia or Petro would be in power, none of them would bend over for Putin, in particular not when it comes to Nato membership. Maybe a minor deal could be reached (Crimea?), in case of a catastrophic situation on the battlefield, but the idea that replacing Zelensky would produce a government which would sell Ukraine downe the river in exchange for peace is complete bullshit!

    • Ukraine of course has many political parties, but there are only four or five that carry any weight. Zel’s party is still quite a way ahead of the others and would still win today; perhaps with a reduced majority, if an election was to take place.
If Zel was to step down, he would be replaced by someone with the same policy.
The other parties; European Solidarity (Poro), Fatherland (Yulia), Holos (rock star Sviatoslav Vakarchuk) and its spin-off; Justice, all have broadly similar policies with regard to Ukraine’s European future.
None of them would give land to putler.
I recommend Jake Broe’s interview with Jonathan Fink, in which he concludes that Ukraine can and must win. His definition of win is not an end to the war; only the return of Ukraine’s legal borders.
The war itself would only end with the death or ouster of putler; likely to be replaced with another dictator, but one who might well want to do business with the west and withdraw from Ukraine.
