“A comprehensive approach is needed”: the Air Force confirmed the downing of a KAB in Zaporizhia

02/07/2025

The Air Force confirmed the shooting down of a guided aerial bomb in
Zaporizhia, which was launched over the city by Russian occupiers. Moreover, this is not the first such shooting down.

This was reported by Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, media reports. However, he did not specify how the air bomb was successfully dropped.

“This is not the first case of the downing of such an aircraft,” Ignat said.

He emphasized that guided aerial bombs come in different types with different warheads. The enemy uses them from tactical aircraft without entering the range of our air defense, meaning the occupiers launch these munitions from a long distance.

At the same time, the Air Force uses various methods to counter tactical aviation using CABs. Ignat noted that countering this threat requires a comprehensive approach – both using ground-based air defense and using air support to drive away the carriers of these CABs as much as possible.

The Air Force recalled that in 2024, the enemy used 39,950 guided aerial bombs of various types against Ukraine.

What is a guided aerial bomb?

A guided (corrected) aerial bomb (GAB) is a precision weapon. The glider property of the GAB allows carrier aircraft to use it without entering the enemy’s air defense zone. It was adopted for service in 1975. The warhead of the bomb can be concrete-breaking for destroying concrete floors, high-explosive and volume-detonating for destroying infantry and equipment, particularly in shelters, with a shock wave.

Recall, early in the morning of January 23, the Russian army attacked Zaporizhia with ballistic missiles. As a result of the enemy’s actions, a man was killed, 52 people were injured, including a two-month-old child, rescuers and energy workers. The occupiers launched four missile strikes on the city, again targeting an energy facility, which was attacked by drones in the evening, as a result of which thousands of subscribers were left without electricity.

As OBOZ.UA reported, on January 8, the Russians attacked industrial infrastructure in Zaporizhia with two KABs, public transport and residential buildings were also shelled. As a result of the strike, 13 people were killed and 122 were injured, including a child.

  1. “The Air Force recalled that in 2024, the enemy used 39,950 guided aerial bombs of various types against Ukraine.”

Enough of this carnage! Absolutely outrageous and vile.

If Trump decides he wants to help Ukraine to win, which seems highly unlikely at the moment, he could simply ask:
“Ok, now what do you need? If it’s possible, I’ll provide it. Naturally it will go on your tab.”

The U.S. has a very good stock of Tomahawks; many thousands. If he sent 500, with ground launched systems, they would fuck the orcs up something chronic.

  2. It would be a tremendous accomplishment if the Ukrainians have found a way to down the glide bombs, which are now the main advantage on the battlefield for the roaches after the majority of their artillery have been turned into scrap.
