A criminal case has been initiated against historian Tamara Eidelman under Part 4 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rehabilitation of Nazism), the Moscow prosecutor’s office reported in its Telegram channel.
The case was initiated on the basis of materials from an inspection conducted by the city prosecutor’s office, the statement said.
On June 21, the Moscow prosecutor’s office announced that it had discovered statements in the author’s program on the historian’s channel (probably referring to her YouTube channel “History Lessons with Tamara Eidelman”) that “expressed obvious disrespect for the day of military glory of Russia and a memorable date in Russia associated with the defense of the Fatherland, as well as insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland.”
According to Eidelman herself, she was not surprised that in “the current anti-Semitic situation in Russia, where the head of state is fraternizing with the Taliban and Hamas,” a criminal case was opened against her under the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism.
Well, go ahead! Open a case. Just look at yourself first: you sing of long-rotten bonds and the cult of strength, you persecute everyone who is at least in some way different from you. You are homophobic and bully people for their sexual orientation. You are racists – and you torture migrants, and at the same time Russian citizens of insufficient “Aryan” origin.
You are spreading a cult of death, extolling the fallen “heroes”, assuring people that their lives mean nothing against the backdrop of the greatness of the Russian world you have invented and the empire that has long since collapsed. You are the fascists. And I don’t give a damn about your criminal case. A case opened by murderers, executioners, and torturers. Burn in hell!
Tamara Eidelman was declared a “foreign agent” in Russia in September 2022. In March 2024, the Dorogomilovsky Court of Moscow fined the historian 50,000 rubles for not labeling her as a “foreign agent” in her social media posts. Edelman was not present at the trial — she left Russia and lives abroad.
