In the city of Berestyn in the Kharkiv region, a 17-year-old Ukrainian kickboxing champion was killed by a Russian ballistic missile strike. She was running for cover when the missile struck.

Valeria Chirina, press secretary of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and Svetlana Krivenko, chair of the Berestin community, spoke about this on the Suspilne channel .

As it turned out, the Russian invaders first struck the city of Berestin with two missiles, and about an hour later the enemy used two more missiles again.

“According to preliminary data, the enemy used a total of four Iskander-type ballistic missiles. There is information about a girl who was killed; she was 17 years old. Unfortunately, she died from her wounds in the hospital,” Chirina said.Read also:

According to Svetlana Krivenko, head of the Berestin community, the deceased was a Ukrainian kickboxing champion. The girl fled to the basement of the building, where she had taken refuge, and sustained shrapnel wounds during the attack.

“She was injured and underwent surgery. She couldn’t cope during the operation and died,” Krivenko said.

The Natalinsky rural military administration’s Facebook page reported that a Russian missile took the life of young champion Karina Bakhur, the head of the Natalinsky House of Culture club.

Additionally, according to the regional prosecutor’s office press secretary, ten people are known to have been injured. Of these, eight were wounded or injured. Among these eight, a minor—a 16-year-old boy—was also among them. Two more women suffered acute stress reactions.

The attack damaged a number of civilian infrastructure facilities, including private and multi-apartment buildings, utility buildings, a local church, stores, and other infrastructure. Fires broke out after the initial strike.
