The first combat use of a Ukrainian ballistic missile could take place as early as this fall.
The program is currently at the stage of engine bench tests.
After that, a test flight and verification of all systems should take place. Fire Point Chief Engineer Denis Shtilerman said in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon on the YouTube channel “Visiting Gordon”.
According to Stillerman, developers are now preparing for one of the key stages of testing.
“Our task now is to burn out the engine, see that nothing structurally falls apart, the thermal protection holds, the engine works. Then we do a test flight,” said the chief engineer.
After that, according to him, specialists must make sure that the rocket flies according to the specified parameters.
“We see that everything is working according to the flight mission. And then flights to the territory of Russia are already beginning. The military will determine where,” said Denis Shtilerman.
When asked when the first Ukrainian ballistic missile could fly to Moscow, the engineer answered briefly:
“Autumn. It will be autumn this year,” the engineer replied.
At the same time, he clarified that it is not yet possible to name a more precise month.
“I can’t say, because it depends very much on the engine burn-in. If there are any inaccuracies in the testing, we will correct them all,” said Stillerman.
Ukraine has already created the necessary production infrastructure for the manufacture of solid-fuel engines.
“We built three PHPs to fill the engines. If one collapsed, we could move to another. If the second one collapsed, we could move to the third one,” the chief engineer said.
This is a missile capable of delivering a warhead weighing about 800 kg to a range of up to 850 km.
“Delivering 800 kilograms 850 kilometers is such a big rocket,” the expert noted.
The engineer also noted that the pace of mass production will depend primarily on financing.
“Everything will depend on the funding that our state will have,” said Fire Point Chief Engineer Denis Shtilerman.
