Ukrzaliznytsia begins a large-scale renewal of its suburban and regional train fleet. This was reported by the press service of the company .
In particular, by 2026 it is planned to purchase 80 suburban and regional trains for UAH 31.4 billion.
In total, within the framework of the tender in the Prozorro system, the company plans to purchase 30 AC electric trains and 30 DC electric trains for suburban transportation. They will also purchase 20 alternating current electric trains for regional routes.
City Express projects involve 60 trains, another 20 are planned to be launched on existing and new regional routes.
“The fleet of Ukrzaliznytsia’s suburban electric trains is worn out by more than 90%, so the renewal of this segment of transportation is critical due to the safety and comfort of passengers ,” the  statement says.
It is noted that the world’s leading manufacturers have been invited to participate in the tender: Siemens, Stadler, Alstom, Pesa, Skoda and the Kryukov Carriage Works.
Specialists of Ukrzaliznytsia and representatives of leading international and Ukrainian manufacturers will be involved in the process of developing technical requirements for suburban and regional electric trains. Within the framework of cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, DB Regio specialists were involved in the review of technical requirements, who operate one of the largest regional rolling stock fleets in Europe.
Ukrzaliznytsia will accept applications for participation in the tender until November 1, 2021, the auction will take place on December 7.
