The 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces has begun carrying out missions in the Huliaipole sector, where Russian troops are attempting to pose a threat to Zaporizhzhia.

This information was provided to Militarnyi by the 7th Air Assault Forces Corps.

The corps described the Huliaipole sector as one of the most challenging in southern Ukraine. According to military sources, Russian forces carry out about 50 assault operations there every week.

“The enemy group in our sector includes, in particular, elite units of the Marine Corps, the Airborne Forces, as well as ‘Rubicon’ crews,” the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces reported.

The 7th Rapid Response Corps expects that, with the onset of inclement weather, Russian troops may intensify their offensive operations, particularly with the use of heavy equipment.

The corps’ mission is to stabilize the situation in a designated sector of the front and reduce the offensive capabilities of Russian forces.

The corps stated that over the past few weeks, Russian personnel losses in this sector have increased by approximately one and a half times.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the 5th Kyiv Assault Brigade and the 92nd Assault Brigade named after Koshovy Ataman Ivan Sirko were transferred to the operational command of the 7th Corps. However, the brigades themselves are not part of the corps’ regular establishment but are temporarily carrying out tasks within its area of responsibility.

Additionally, the 225th Separate Assault Regiment was transferred to the corps’ operational command earlier.

Combat path of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces

The command of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces was established on July 17, 2023. Initially, it formally included airborne assault and airmobile brigades, an artillery brigade, separate tank companies, a regiment, and a command battalion; however, these units were not yet actually subordinate to the corps at that time.

In 2024, the corps’ command core participated in containing Russian forces in the Vuhledar and Kurakhiv sectors. From January through June 2025, the corps was deployed to organize defenses in the Novopavlivka sector and part of the Pokrovsk sector.

In June 2025, as part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ transition to a corps-based system, some units of the 7th Corps were transferred to the newly formed 8th Airborne Assault Corps, while the 7th Corps itself began developing the capabilities of a fully-fledged formation. Beginning in July 2025, it carried out defense missions in Pokrovsk, while some of its subordinate brigades continued to operate in other sectors of the front.

Throughout the first half of 2026, the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces continued to defend the Pokrovsk metropolitan area, repelling Russian assaults in the regions of Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Hryshyne, and Rodynske.
