In the Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions, a main water supply system, built “from scratch” after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station dam by the Russians, began operating. “Water is already supplied from Zaporozhye to the pumping and filtration station in Marganets (first branch), where it is purified and distributed to consumers – in the Marganets, Mirovskaya, Shirokovskaya, Tomakovskaya communities. The second branch will provide water to Nikopol, Pokrovskoe and Chervonogrigorovka (Dnipropetrovsk region) “, wrote Maxim Shkil, owner of the Autostrada group of companies, which was the contractor for the construction of the water pipeline, on his Facebook page.
According to him, Autostrada completed the construction of the water pipeline and its preparation for launch back in February, since then they have been waiting to determine the balance holder of the facility and provide constant voltage. Shkil noted that the facility was built in 7 months – from design to implementation, which is a record short period of time.
“At the same time, design, obtaining technical specifications, approvals and permits, and construction itself continued – designers, surveyors, builders worked harmoniously and in parallel – directly on site, 24/7! These were extremely complex tasks, but we solved them!”, wrote owner of Autostrada. According to him, the water supply system is fully automated and computerized, and operates entirely from a source of constant power supply.
The length of the network is 77.9 km. The design capacity of the water supply system is 150,000 m3 of water per day. “It was important to ensure water intake from the Dnieper, which has a constant flow of living water. Since due to constant enemy shelling, access to the Dnieper bed is limited in many areas, it was decided to take water from Zaporozhye,” Shkil noted. According to him, the designers actually drew the routes according to maps, because filming would have taken a lot of time. And only after the route was laid, they clarified all this using geodesy.
“We laid pipes where this was impossible in an open way, under roads, railways and rivers – we made punctures using the horizontal drilling method – a drilling rig drills a well into which a case in the form of a steel pipe is pulled, after which a fiberglass pipe is pulled into this case.” – said the entrepreneur. He also added that to ensure power supply to the water supply system, a 26-kilometer main and reserve power supply line of 6 kV and 35 kV networks was built. As an alternative (backup) power source, 2 diesel generators with a capacity of up to 1 MW are installed at each substation.
“To protect the water supply from shelling, almost the entire system of main pipelines and pumping stations is hidden underground. Upon completion of the work, the roads along which construction equipment moved, landscaping, and landscaping were carried out,” he added.
According to Shkil, in the absence of timely financing, construction was actually carried out using the company’s credit and working capital. “Despite the 100% readiness of the water supply system back in February, the state’s debt to Autostrada for this facility alone is UAH 1.5 billion. I hope that this issue will be resolved in the near future. Thanks to the team for the excellent work!” the entrepreneur concluded.
