Ukrainian paratroopers conducted a counteroffensive operation in the Oleksandrivka direction during January-September 2026. As a result of the operation, 26 villages were liberated.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. At the same time, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapaty reported to him about the success of the Ukrainian forces.

What is known

According to the results of the report of the Commander-in-Chief, Chief of the General Staff Ihor Skybyuk and the Commander of the Airborne Assault Forces Oleh Apostol, from January to August 2026, the Ukrainian army conducted an operation in the Oleksandrivka direction.

“We managed to significantly strike the occupation contingent. Russian losses amounted to at least 9,550 people killed and more than 6,600 people wounded. There was also a replenishment of the exchange fund for Ukraine,” the head of state said.

During the operation, Zelensky added, Ukrainian forces managed to liberate an area of ​​745 square kilometers. Twenty-six villages in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhia regions were deoccupied.

As OBOZ.UA reported, in June of this year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as in May, liberated more territories than they lost. Thus, a “turning point” is looming in the war in Ukraine, and now “the actions of the Ukrainian command will depend” on the further successes of the Ukrainian defenders in the counteroffensive, analysts of the DeepState project believe.

Ukrainian defenders are also continuing offensive operations in the south, where they are demonstrating progress on certain sections of the front. The most noticeable results were recorded in the western part of the Zaporizhia region. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are intensifying strikes on rear facilities of Russian troops.
